ABOUT HOLLY
Holly is a jeweller and goldsmith based in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. Both tutored and self-taught, she works on a small scale, producing a limited number of pieces each year.
The design process:
Holly enjoys the challenge of creating pieces which require precision and attention to detail. That said, she also relishes the creative freedom which comes from manipulating pieces of metal 'free form' into irregular shapes. In this sense, her jewellery reflects her personality: for some pieces she draws upon the exacting and perfectionist aspects of her character; for others, she allows her more relaxed and easy-going nature to come to the fore.
Holly's work is also influenced by her experiences and her environment. Many of the stones in her Cabochon collection reflect the colours of the Welsh landscape which surrounds her home, whilst the imperfect shapes of the pieces in her Organic collection are inspired by the well-worn and much-loved jewellery of elderly friends. The Faceted collection represents the bright, shiny excitement of new beginnings and the Quirky collection is intended to appeal to those who enjoy the unpredictable and unexpected.
The materials:
Holly works in silver and gold, sometimes using semi-precious or precious stones. Her work is hand forged so each piece is unique. Many of the metals she uses are recycled and the process of reimagining and reusing materials is one she enjoys.
